BiS and Theoretical DPS spreadsheet

EDIT: This workbook is constantly being updated and I will (hopefully) soon have a user friendly version to bring you full of dropdown selection menus, automated importing of the selected item's stats, and creamy goodness. If you think I missed an item (and I know i did) send me a message or leave me a comment. I'll add it in!

I have been working on modeling this DPS spreadsheet for a little bit now. The long and short of this is that this is an alpha release of this. I'm stuck seeing this as I want to see it. So what I need from any interested reader is a review of it. What buffs/debuffs are missing in my dps calculations? The percentages for the rotation came from my own WWS reports on uptime of DoTs and spellcasts all normalized to 100%. Treants and starfall were ignored. Along with this are some other proposed BiS and some musings on NG uptime. If you don't have a pretty good knowledge of excel, you may not want to tinker with this. PS, this is a total clutter. It needs to have all the names cleaned up and much much more. I'm looking for content at the moment, not succinctness nor aesthetics. Thanks!

Moonkin Spreadsheet

I do realize there is a spreadsheet out there called WrathCalcs. I built this to try to get a better understanding of how to model moonkin damage (and thereby choose stats). It is not intended to correct or compete with WrathCalcs in any way.

Nice idea, however I would suggest to turn off the macros and not use them there. Not many people will trust some random file from Internet.

Cheers.

So I'm not exactly a spreadsheet wizard and I didn't even realize they were on. I'll disable and re-upload. Thanks for the heads up!

I am confused as to why Both Flare of the Heavens and Pandora's Plea list SP of 154.53 when neither of them actually have SP on them. Is this a conversion of their respective procs? I am asking because when you remove the SP it vastly changes the outcome. Thank you.

Yeah, you basically hit the nail on the head. The value of the trinket was abysmally low when the trinket proc was not considered. I sorta went the opposite route and assumed that you would get as many procs of the trinket as possible. Completely unrealistic, but it gives a the trinket a more realistic model number than ignoring the proc altogether.

I have to say:

There are items here not even listed on wowhead. how are we supposed to plan for these drops.

The haste rating of 389 is piss-poor for a boomkin. Most of the top dps boomkins I know are running about 500 minimum.

You may want to check out some theorycrafting before you tout BiS.

Thanks,

@ anon 2

I pull my items from wowhead AND from mmochampion. Also, this list is primarily for Solar rotations. A solar rotation has a soft haste cap of 400 after which the wrath casts that are affected by Nature's Grace will begin to clip the global cooldown. I'm sure you know that the solar rotation has recently picked up a great deal of viability in the raid world, especially on movement intensive fights.

I would suggest you plan by doing a little research of your own first.

Welcome to 3.1.2.

Hey Revelart... can you add the Wanton legs to your spreadsheet? I would like to see what they might add or subtract from dps.

Thanks

Done and done.

Would you be able to add the Icecore staff to your spreadsheet?
Thanks!

Done and done. You can always add an item by inserting a row between two existing pieces that belong in the same armor slot on the Weights page. I set the lists up to be dynamic and the rankings on that page are defunct anyway, so it won't make any difference. Then, you can use the dropdown menus on the BiS sheet to set up your own gear in the list and look at how each change of gear will change your theoretical output.

As a side note, I will most likely be messing with this more in August if 3.2 releases in August. If it doesn't, you may not hear anything from me about it for a few months as my school year will be beginning and there's always a lot of work to be done to get a positive learning environment and all that jazz.
